Can the iPhone become “the paperless magazine”?

The paperless society has introduced an interesting concept. It's been long enough that we all used, but in the big scheme of things, it is a relatively modern invention. 10 years ago it was common to have an office paper notes published on a notice board in the canteen or a visit by his boss, preferably with a fax to send a quick email. These days, it seems, is far behind us.

With Office conquered, paperless lifestyle choices has quickly caught our personal lives. We are accustomed to buying everything from books and digital music for cartoons and movies. It was only a matter of time before someone decided to print the magazine to boldly into the 21st century. It appears that someone was GQ.

Beginning with the December 2009 issue, GQ now offers an iPhone version of their monthly magazine men, each piece of content can be found in the printed version includes. Besides everything you would look at a kiosk, iPhone edition of GQ has some positive features going on;

  • Exclusive audio, video and photos not found in the printed version
  • Better price: $ 2.99 iPhone, $ 4.50 kiosk
  • Back issues still available when new issues are published
The reverse is, of course, is that if Apple somehow create a subscription model will not be regular readers will be able to save by committing to more problems with a purchase. And that is a huge download required when the app was bought to give to take offline.

Minor complaints aside, there is great potential to make the magazine available as digital downloads for iPhone. I can think of half a dozen print publications, I would like to buy a digital Edition (Wired, I look in your direction). What do you think? GQ is blazing a trail that other newspaper publishers will follow? Would you pay $ 2.99 for a digital version of your favorite print mag? What would you like to see in a magazine app?
